My heating engineer says he’s using the scheme – why is that relevant to me?
If your installer is registered on the A1 LCS Scheme then they can access high levels of grant funding to help you switch your primary heating fuel from either coal or electric to a more carbon friendly gas, oil or LPG alternative.
Why do I need to sign the voucher?
At the A1 LCS Scheme we need to ensure all installations and funding being claimed through the scheme are genuine. We ask customers to sign the voucher to confirm that work has been carried out and that the installation is genuine. Your signature also confirms that you are happy to be contacted by us to follow up on the work done.
Why do you need to contact me after the work has been done?
As part of our quality monitoring we will always contact a proportion of home owners to check they were satisfied with the work which was done and to check that the engineer who did the work represented the A1 LCS Scheme appropriately. The households we contact are chosen at random and it only takes a few moments to answer the simple questions.
What products are available on the scheme?
Fuel Switch funding is available against any "A" rated boiler from the following manufactures - Alpha, Atag, Baxi, Glow worm, Grant UK, Ideal, Potterton, Sime, Vaillant, Vokera and Worcester Bosch - with an efficiency of 90% or more bought through Plumb Center.
How can I find an installer who is registered on the scheme?
If you are having difficulty finding an installer you can contact the A1 LCS Team on a1@npower.com or phone 0845 6000 337 and we will give you a list of all the registered installers in your area. Alternatively you can enter your postcode in our find an installer search engine. Remember to always obtain three quotes before going ahead and having the work done.
My installer has never heard of A1 LCS. How can he register?
It is easy. As long as he is Gas Safe or OFTEC (oil installers) registered he can visit our website and apply on-line, visit his local Plumb Center who will be able to provide all the information he needs or ring the A1 LCS Team on 0845 6000 337 where we will be happy to help process his application.
What is npower's connection with the scheme?
The A1 LCS Scheme was devised by npower as part of their Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC) programme to improve the energy efficiency of homes. The scheme has allowed the smooth transition into the condensing market and has been instrumental in supporting the installation of over 88,000 'A' rated condensing boilers boilers since the start of the scheme in April 2003. Can I use this grant funding in conjunction with the Warm Front grants?
‘The funding provided by npower’s A1 LCS is not available in conjunction with any funding from another energy supplier or government programme including grants awarded through Warm Front.’
